5 Ways to Boost Your Mood

Be kind

Research shows that random acts of kindness will help to boost your mood.  These random acts of kindness can increase your energy level and produce oxytocin.

Smile!

A good, big smile can change everything! It’s hard to feel down when you smile, plus it triggers mood-boosting hormones in the brain

Go for a 10 minute brisk walk

Exercise does not need to be complicated to make you feel good! People who exercise feel more positive, less stressed, less tension, anger, fatigue and symptoms of depression.

Stay busy

Being busy occupies the mind and boosts the feeling of achievement.  Try things that are out of your normal daily routine as this will invigorate the mind

Breath

It sounds a weird thing to say as we do it everyday all day, but it’s important to breathe properly. If you’re feeling low, try to regulate your breathing and pay attention to what you can see, hear and feel at the present moment. Most of us don’t take deep soothing breaths from our diaphragm; we tend to take short, shallow breaths that only use the upper part of our lungs. Inhale slowly through your nose, then exhale through your mouth. Do this for 5-10 minutes This will help you to feel calm and bring you back to a positive emotional balance.
